The Rigveda 4th chapter,9th anuvaakam,48th suktham 3rd verse
उवासोषा उछाच्च नु देवी जीरा रथानाम
ये अस्या आचरणेषु दध्रिरे समुद्रे न शरवस्यवः
Meaning:
The wealth seekers sail the boats in the seas.Like that the dawn is driven by Ushodevi( goddess of light). In past also she drove it.Now also it is happening.
If we observe the first sentence, it is clear that in Vedic age our ancestors had business with other countries. Moreover we can know that "The journey on the sea" is there in Vedic age.
Someone introduced "The prohibition on sea jouney" in our later scriptures after Vedic age.
